Reply with quote | #121 | Sounds good man, it's great getting away back to a more traditional way of living sometimes.
I was tempted to try this diet myself, but I don't know if can stand to give up the English breakfast on the weekends. Weekdays at work, no problem, but Sunday without egg and bacon?!?! That's inhumane. |

Reply with quote | #122 | A key component to this "diet" is that you can go off it whenever you want. In fact, it's not a bad idea to have one "wild-card" day per week where you disobey all the rules so that you don't build up resentment and then give up entirely.
In other words, DIG IN to that Sunday breakfast, and then go back on the plan Monday morning. It's not canon law here. Just a guide to enjoying life, and food, and your body, more.

Reply with quote | #123 | Personally, I'm on the Anabolic Diet right now, which is freakin' beautiful. Seriously, I absolutely love it.
Eat as much meat, eggs, and cheese as I want all week, and then carb up at the weekend, (including a few beers and a pizza:-)) and I'm still sub 10% bodyfat.
The only thing that bugs me about traditional bodybuilding type diets is all the food preparation, eating 5-6 times a day. It really is a pain in the arse some days, especially when you're out and about. And it can be expensive. TWD would solve both of these. Cheaper as well as easier.
My main concerns about TWD are:
a) Losing lean muscle b) Doesn't Ori recommend a shitload of supplements?

Reply with quote | #125 | I'm gonna give it a go. I'm all for trying new stuff, you don't know till you give it a go.
Starting tomorrow:
The Goal: 6 percent bodyfat, whilst maintaining (or increasing) my current lean body mass.
The plan: Fruit and nuts as snacks in the day. Evening meals will be low carb; meat, eggs, salad, healthy fat. I'll get some carbs in on my weekend meals for the leptin regulation, and anabolic spike, maybe have a splurge on Sunday like a takeaway in the evening (and a good breakfast ).
I'll keep my training the same so I'm only changing one variable.
Starting numbers (last measured about a week ago): Weight: 148 BF%: 8.4 (6mm ASIC) Fat weight: 12.4 LBM: 135.6 Waist: 29.25
1RM's (from memory) Back squat: 125kg Deadlift: 160kg
I'll give it a couple of weeks and report back |

Reply with quote | #128 | Quick update
After about a week and half, my numbers are pretty steady. Bodyweight and ASIC are still about the same, however, I think I look a bit leaner. I know that's a bit subjective, but in the mirror I seem (IMO at least) to be a little more cut. Not much, but a little. I've got a couple of veins starting to come through on my hip/waist area. And this is not being particularly strict. In the last week I've had a night of serious beering last weekend, drunk a few beers in the week, and ate some junk food. I think if I got strict I'd be laughing at Gerard Butler for being such a fatty.
How do I enjoy the diet? Loving it so far. More time, more money, feel great.
Will continue for a few more weeks and let you know, this period of time isn't really a long enough trial.
The march to ripped-dom continues.
This is SPARTA!!!!!!!!! |

Reply with quote | #129 | Right. Not at the goal yet, but fucking a, what progress.
I've pretty much stopped hitting the weights. Not as strong as I used to be, but still farmer-strong (I helped bring in about 500 bales of hay in two days last weekend), and walking every day where I need to go, and eating healthier, less chemichally-enhanced hearty Central European food, AND essentially eating only after 4PM about 80% of the time, and my weight is now...
235 lbs. That's down 40 lbs, and without dieting, jogging, surgery, or any craziness. I work out way less. I eat food that I like even more. And I drink way more way better beer.
So i've got more pounds to go, but it is possible. No matter how out-of-shape you get, if you change your life in small, sensible ways, you get back the health that is your birthright.

I re-did it 9 times because I was in total disbelief. I don't even eat junk food. No regular soda. I thought I was following a sensible diet. I see now all the sneaky ways I was overeating, and under-exercising, and basically just taking my health for granted. So I'm starting an idea called The Warrior Diet. It's pretty simple. Fast all day (water, coffee and fruit only), and then eat one ginoromous meal at night (salad, veggies, meat, complex carbs, but no sugar or sugar substitutes). I dig the idea. I dig that it goes against the grain of all the diet advice I've ever gotten. I dig that it corresponds to my real-life experience (my first semester of grad school in New Mexico, I went from 210 to 185 in a month just because I was too busy to eat during the day, and ate one huge meal at around 5 every day at the Mexican place where I waited tables, and rode my bike everywhere). I am going to get back to 210 by the end of 2009. Here's where I'll chart my progress. But no photos of the "before." Too depressing. But I will show you what I looked like at 210, cos this is where I'm supposed to be: | | Model Number: 15309 | | Starter/Beginner Portfolio |

Only 15 lbs to go for your 2009 goal. You plan on auctioning off yourself again once you make it to 210? Haha

Reply with quote | #131 | I'm pretty damn sure I re-gained 5 kgs or so just being back in the States for a month. Damn, there's a LOT of food to choose from there, and not much of it is good for you.
Back in the Big Dub again (that's Warsaw in my own self-styled ghetto slang), and looking forward to long walks and good food getting me back on track.
No scales. Nie. Niets! I know from look and feel where I'm at, and I've still got a ways to go. __________________ ===

Reply with quote | #133 | # Day 1
I didn't eat anything until 11pm when I came home from samba drumming. I
drank plenty of water though. I noticed myself feeling only slightly hungry
during the day, and nothing that lasted very long. I was hardly tired
either. I didn't even really feel like eating in the evening, although I
did eat a green salad, half a pizza, some nuts and cottage cheese. I didn't
work out at all, so we'll see how I feel after exercise tomorrow.

Reply with quote | #134 | # Day 2 2009-10-01
Again the morning was easy: no hunger. I started getting hungry around
lunchtime, but it soon disappeared. By 7pm though I was starting to get
really hungry and ate a salad, eggs, two fillets of salmon and half a pizza.
I still haven't tried exercising on the diet, but I might get round to it
tomorrow. |

Reply with quote | #137 | # Day 3 2009-10-02
I'm generally getting hungry a little bit during the day, but it passes
quickly. Towards the evening at 6 or 7pm I start feeling tired and light
headed like I really need food, but I can push through that.
I went to the gym with a friend at about 8pm despite feeling hungry and
light headed, but I didn't notice any real loss of strength.

Reply with quote | #138 | # Days 9-10 2009-10-10
The last couple of days I've been ill, so I've actually been on an "anti"
Warrior Diet, which is basically eating as much as possible in the
afternoon, and then going to sleep for the rest of the day!

Reply with quote | #139 | Due to having a virus I suspended my warrior diet. I think that eating regularly during illness is important in aiding recovery. When I take the WD back up again, I'll let you guys know. |

Reply with quote | #141 | Update... this is now no longer a diet for me. It's just how it is. I feel better all the time. Some days I will eat a little earlier, some days I will try breakfast, and when I visit someone's home I eat whatever offered, whenever (nothing more rude than a person on a "special diet" as a guest).
I've not slimmed down to male model numbers, but i'm feeling and looking better. It's been hard to eat healthy with all the travel I've done this year, but even so I'm down now from 125 kgs to 109 since January 1st.
But the best thing is I eat well, enjoy it, and have some control over my eating/gorging habits. Ironically enough, it took leaving hippie havens like San Francisco and coming to Warsaw, Poland to get into good, organic, local veggie foods. The best cheap eats here are all-natural and generally meat-free, so I'm eating much better stuff without feeling deprived. My workouts are much, much lazier, but in a good way. I do some quick olympic lifts, maybe some intervals, and get out. Lots of stretching. Some yoga. Meditating. Walking. No alcohol. Very little caffeine and nicotine. Lots of fresh mineral water. And I feel better than I've felt in 20 years.
I wouldn't recommend this just for quick weight loss. It's more of a lifestyle change, and if you do it, you've got to commit. But IME, it's totally worth it. I would never go back to "regular" eating habits now. __________________ ===
