Reply with quote | #1 | So I have an opportunity to work in Libya for a year.
Advantages:
Opportunity to really make a huge difference for an entire country. I hear they lack infrastructure badly. It'll feel great helping build some of the first highways in the country. What a thought!
30 minutes away from Italy. Exploring Europe is one of the things in my bucket list. I'll get 30 days of paid time off, so I think I'll actually get to enjoy this instead of the measly 2 weeks I get now.
Food and housing paid for. So I get to save or spend everything I make which will be a raise from what I get now.
Disadvantages:
Lack of women to flirt with? This is just a guess based on them not having bars since alcohol is illegal. I may have to live in social isolation for most of the time I'm there.
Any thoughts/advice? __________________ Don't touch anything?! I'll touch whatever I FEEL like!!

Wait a tick....
So you get to travel, live in another country, enjoy the food/culture/language/people of that country, get PAID, free room and board, AND food paid for...
and you're 'disadvantage' is a lack of women???????? I'll take the travel over women ANYDAY !!
Enjoy your time bro, the chickies will be here when you get back!

Reply with quote | #3 | I can't believe I'm going to say this for the first time in my life and coming from my background experience with women (crap):
"Who cares about women?"
You're not going to be there for a long time....forever, and you have got 30 days holiday for which you can go to Europe and do all the flirting you want.
Go make a difference in Libya, take in the culture, food, people and experience and revel in the experience you get there.
And Matt is right (as always) ...the chickies will be there when you get back, the only difference is you'll have a lot of cool stories to talk about how you made a difference in a country that needs it, how you followed your passion.
Good luck
Francis

Reply with quote | #4 | If I can choose what I am getting in the next 10 years between fucking a lot of women and building solid professional/life experience (and skills), I will surely choose the latter..
And Lybia..... Sure why not? They have some killer pastas there, man.. |

Reply with quote | #5 | It'll be a culture shock. For better and for worse in individual moments, but overall for the better if you're open to it, even if it's after you go back home. Or maybe you won't go back again, maybe you'll stay or maybe you'll end up in Europe.
People socialize in Libya too, it's just different.
If you feel safe going there: go. And enjoy Europe as well. It'll be an adventure. __________________ ***

Reply with quote | #6 | You'll be alright man.I would do it if I were you.
You will learn about life and different cultures. One thing I'm very happy about and won't change for anything in the world is the fact that I'm a foreigner,so I am a mix of different cultures.

Reply with quote | #7 | Thanks, bros. I figured I'd give it a few days and let the hype and excitement die down a bit. If I still really want to go, then I'm signing up! There's still a whole interview process that has to go on, but it sounds like they really need people to go. __________________ Don't touch anything?! I'll touch whatever I FEEL like!!
